Good Morning OTA Friends.... Today is another FANTASTIC $10.00 Tuesday with a GREAT Purpose.
The month of October is breast cancer awareness month... that would explain why we are seeing the color pink everywhere. For the past 5 years it has been hard for me to do a lot with this because it hits really close to home.... At the age of 36 years old (5 years ago) I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I remember my dad sending this video by Martina McBride. He said it reminded him of the trial I was going through - boy was he right... I was 36 years old with three young kids and an amazing husband. Life was good, but time for more growth for not only myself, but our sweet family also. My journey to this discovery started with something we all should be doing - My Yearly Exam.... I must admit it had been a couple years since I had been in for one. Thank goodness our amazing family Dr. did a thorough exam and found an unusual lump. I was actually in shock because we had just gone through this with my mom one year prior. I was sent for my first mammogram and was later sent to the Huntsman Cancer Institute for a biopsy..... Four days after my appointment, I awaited the call from my Dr. I truly knew in the back of my mind that I would not have cancer and would be able to move on without this challenge. I was shocked when the call came and the Dr. confirmed I had breast cancer. I truly was shocked. I was the only one at home.... my kids were at school and Eric was a couple hours away from home for work. A lot of that morning is a blur, but I do remember calling my husband and telling him. His heart was broken... Over and over he told me how sorry he was and that we could get through this together. He borrowed a car from a dear friend and raced home to be by my side during that tough day. I called my mom and she was just as shocked as I was. She was right there with me during my first mammogram and such a rock of support. She said over and over "I just can't believe it". My kids had no idea that this was going on.... So we sat them down that afternoon after school and told them. I won't lie..... IT WAS HORRIBLE! I felt so bad for them. After many tears (and jokes) we started this journey together and what a blessing it became in our lives....

Today's $10.00 Tuesday is going to be different. We will be offering a variety of items that will be marked at different prices. We will be giving a portion of our proceeds (from today's sales) to an amazing organization called ~Cache Valley For Hope~
This is an AMAZING organization that helps our local families who are battling cancer.... Not just breast cancer, but all types. This organization has been a tremendous help to so many families here in our valley. My dear sister was a recipient of their generosity during her husband's battle with cancer 5 years ago... Unfortunately he is no longer with us physically, but we feel him with us often and know he is so proud of my sister and the way she is raising their daughter. My sweet sister Melanie has been a great supporter of this organization and has given back many times in gratitude for the burden they lifted during that hard time.... I love you Mel! Thank you for continuing to be strong and press forward with such faith!
